Hirtenhaus Chesin
A cosy shepherd's hut at 1'600m in Latsch, above Bergün. Wood stove, tin tub, mountains – barely changed in 100 years, and it doesn't need to be.

Who is it for
1 or 2 people who need mountains more than amenities.
Anyone happy with a wood stove for warmth and a tin tub instead of a shower.
Good to know
Latsch sits above Bergün. Bus access is limited. Our host Martina was kind enough to offer a ride. Otherwise it's a 30-minute walk up (20 down), which is a nice way to arrive.
Bergün has everything you need – farm shops, a bakery, organic stores. And if you want more: the spa at Kurhaus Bergün.
No shower. Hot water at the sink, a tin tub – genuinely enjoyable in summer.
The hut isn't insulated. Best in the warmer months. The wood stove heats fast but the warmth fades by morning. Bring layers and warm socks.

What stood out
Names carved into doors and walls – traces from over a century of people who lived here. Nothing restored for effect. You feel the history the moment you step in.
